Job summary

ABB Senior R&D Engineer position in Mebane, North Carolina requires leading research and development from concept to implementation, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence. You will develop innovative switchgear solutions and provide expert engineering input across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities include 3D CAD modeling, mentoring junior engineers, cross-functional collaboration with product development, manufacturing and QA, and ensuring compliance with ANSI, IEEE, NEMA and UL

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field, and 8 years of R&D experience in electrical power equipment.
Experience in electrical equipment design (switchgear, motor controllers, power protection, transformers or meters) and with simulation tools.
Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, UL, or IEC standards and 3D CAD modeling.
Experience leading R&D projects using a stage-gate process and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Oversee R&D projects from concept to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
Develop and implement innovative switchgear solutions to enhance performance, reliability, and safety.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and collaborate with product development, manufacturing, and QA teams.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
