Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality excellence across manufacturing operations, suppliers, and customer-facing activities. You will partner with engineering, supply chain, and field teams to drive corrective actions and ensure products meet customer requirements while supporting safety, delivery, and cost goals.

The role emphasizes root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement through structured problem-solving methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of quality engineering in manufacturing (low-volume/high-mix preferred).
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and auditing principles.
• Experience with APQP, FMEA, CAPA, NCR, deviation management, and structured problem solving.
• Experience with root-cause analysis and leading cross-functional corrective action teams.
• Strong analytical skills with Excel, PowerBI, Minitab, or equivalent tools.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel up to 15%.
• Preferred ASQ CQE / CMQ/OE / ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Six Sigma GB or BB.
• HVAC/industrial equipment / engineered-to-order experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality improvement to reduce defects and COPQ while boosting customer satisfaction.
• Analyze quality data, field performance, warranty, and feedback to spot trends.
• Lead root-cause investigations using 8D/9S/A3/DMAIC methods.
• Drive APQP, PFMEA, control plans, validation, and risk mitigation for new/existing products.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, supply chain, and field teams on CAPA.
• Conduce customer site visits and field assessments to address concerns.
• Be the primary quality contact for customers and suppliers on issues and audits.
• Evaluate nonconforming materials and support MRB decisions.
• Maintain ISO 9001 QMS compliance and internal audits.
• Work with suppliers to set quality expectations and corrective actions.
• Present quality metrics and project status to leadership.
• Mentor quality engineers, inspectors, and cross-functional teams.
• Foster continuous improvement and operational excellence.
