Job summary

IonQ is seeking a Senior QPU Design Engineer to join the Processor Design team. You will integrate features to operate quantum computers into complex chips, collaborating with scientists and fabrication engineers to bring ion-trap designs into production and drive the hardware behind our world-leading quantum systems.

You will translate requirements into layouts, expand chip features, and own the final tape-out while working across teams to ensure feasibility and timely delivery in a fast-moving

Qualifications

• Experience translating design requirements into features and applying them to chip layouts.
• Ability to drive design processes and collaborate across teams in a fast-moving, highly technical environment.
• Experience in ion trap design, photonics design or IC packaging.

Responsibilities

• Turn operational requirements into chip layout, supporting devices that enable new technologies.
• Expand the range of features our chips support and contribute to utility-scale quantum computing.
• Guide chips through the design process from requirements to tape-out.
• Layout complex multi-layer chips with metal routing and interfaces to photonics/CMOS.
• Coordinate with scientists and other teams to ensure feasibility and delivery.
