Job summary

IonQ Bothell, WA seeks a Microarchitecture (uArch) Researcher to join a cross-functional team building fault-tolerant quantum processors. You will contribute to the physical implementation and layout of ion-trap architectures and design large-scale chip layouts enabling quantum error correction.

You will translate theory into practical layouts, develop simulation tools to assess performance under realistic noise, and collaborate with AMO physicists, QEC researchers, and trap designers.

Qualifications

• Four years of research experience in quantum computing or chip architecture.
• Degree in quantum computing, physics, engineering, chemistry or related field.
• Strong expertise in AMO theory, QEC theory, QCVV theory or classical VLSI theory.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the physical implementation of quantum error correction protocols on ion trap processors.
• Contribute to a library of simulation tools that analyse logical performance under realistic physical noise.
• Collaborate with trap designers, AMO physicists, QEC researchers and a broad spectrum of other research backgrounds.
• Contribute to research papers and other technical writing.
