Job summary

Atomic HR is helping a fast-growing SaaS client hire a senior QA engineer to own automation, end-to-end tests, and release verdicts across web apps, APIs and AI features. You’ll design tests, pick tools, and run them in GitHub Actions to prevent regressions before every ship.

You’ll work remotely across the U.S., coach engineers on testing their own work, and set a shared definition of done while balancing speed with quality and security in a distributed delivery model.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in quality, test or software engineering with automation you wrote yourself, running in CI and maintained by others.
• Built at least one test practice from a low baseline: chose tools, wrote initial suites, wired into CI, and can explain what you left untested.
• Strong test code in Python or TypeScript across API, browser and pipeline, including headless browser runs and integration tests for failing dependencies.
• Experience testing business rules you had to learn first: read policy, identify gaps, write tests from the answers.
• Experience as the only quality person across several teams, setting priorities with no backlog.
• Clear written updates for engineers and non-engineers alike, including the confidence to challenge a deadline with facts.

Responsibilities

• Test strategy and automation: decide where the product is most likely to break and what gets tested first.
• Release verdicts: provide ready/not ready notes with test results and evidence for each release.
• Testing inside delivery teams: sit with customer-facing teams, test features, and define done.
• Web app, services and outside systems: run functional, regression and accessibility tests, check configurations, test APIs and write contract tests.
• AI chat features: build evaluation suites with golden data sets, re-run on prompts or model changes, test guardrails.
• Test data and security: seed realistic test data and help find/fix security vulnerabilities.
