Job summary

Self Financial in Austin, TX is seeking a Python engineer to join the Business Systems team. You will design, build, and maintain REST APIs that connect our CRM, payments, and internal data tools in a high-traffic, latency-sensitive environment.

You will diagnose production performance issues, implement caching strategies with Redis, and leverage async Python to maximize throughput. Collaboration with DevOps/SRE and product teams is essential as we deploy in AWS and maintain robust observability.

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience with Python, including async programming and building/maintaining REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of data integration between services and data reconciliation across systems.
• Solid understanding of HTTP, API design, caching, and debugging performance in live services.
• Experience with a key-value store (Redis) and caching tradeoffs.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS).
• Ability to read logs and distributed traces to debug systems issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Python services (REST APIs) that integrate CRM with payments, account management, and internal data services.
• Diagnose and resolve performance issues in production, including blocking I/O, caching, and API latency under load.
• Use async Python to safely parallelize I/O-bound work without degrading throughput.
• Implement and tune caching layers (Redis) for high-throughput endpoints.
• Build and maintain CRM integrations (Salesforce) including data queries and REST sync.
• Deploy and operate services in AWS or similar cloud environments with serverless and containers.
• Use observability/APM tools to trace requests and validate fixes with production data.
• Write clean, well-tested code with clear API, business logic, and infrastructure separation.
• Participate in on-call rotation to triage alerts and coordinate fixes.
