Self Financial is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and Own core services powering its mobile app and web experiences in Austin, TX. You will help build scalable backend systems, APIs, and data models while collaborating with a high-performing team in a fast-paced FinTech environment.

Bring 5+ years of production backend experience with Python, Flask/FastAPI, and a strong focus on reliability, security, and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend services.
• Strong working knowledge of Python and web application fundamentals.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and backend-service communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs with ownership over your system area.
• Implement scalable REST endpoints for web and mobile clients.
• Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and optimize queries and indexes.
• Integrate with payment processors, credit bureaus, messaging, and analytics tools.
• Write clean, maintainable code and perform code reviews.
