Job summary

Coherent Solutions, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Python backend engineer to design, develop, and operate scalable services in a remote, fast-paced environment.

You will build distributed backend systems with Django and FastAPI, handle data pipelines and Kafka-based messaging, and collaborate across product, frontend, and DevOps teams. You will optimize performance, ensure reliability under heavy load, and lead testing and observability initiatives while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Python backend development experience.
• Solid experience with Django and FastAPI, and asynchronous programming with asyncio.
• Production experience with Apache Kafka.
• Strong background in distributed systems or microservices architecture.
• Experience deploying containerized apps with Docker.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud providers.
• Proficiency with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
• Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools like Prometheus/Grafana.
• Strong problem-solving and code-review abilities.
• Comfortable working in Agile teams.
• English level: B2 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of backend services from design to deployment and maintenance.
• Design and maintain scalable, high-performance Python backends using Django/FastAPI.
• Architect distributed systems to support millions of users with low latency.
• Own APIs, data pipelines, message brokers (e.g., Kafka), and caching layers.
• Optimize for throughput, latency, fault tolerance and resilience under load.
• Implement robust unit, integration, and performance tests.
• Drive improving development processes and system observability (monitoring/logging).
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to ship features on tight timelines.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and architectural discussions.
