Job summary

Coherent Solutions, Inc. is seeking a senior Python backend engineer to own design, development and deployment of scalable services in a remote-friendly setup. You will work with Django/FastAPI, asyncio and Kafka to deliver high-availability systems for millions of users.

You will collaborate across product, frontend and DevOps teams, implement robust testing, and mentor junior engineers on best practices in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Qualifications

• 4 years of Python backend development experience.
• Solid experience with Django or FastAPI and asynchronous programming (asyncio).
• Production experience with Apache Kafka.
• Strong distributed systems / microservices background.
• Experience deploying containerized apps with Docker.
• Familiarity with cloud providers, preferably AWS.
• Proficient in SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Experience with CI/CD and test automation.
• Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
• English level: B2 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services from design through deployment, maintenance, and improvement.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed services using Python and Django/FastAPI.
• Architect systems to support millions of users with low latency and high availability.
• Own APIs, data pipelines, message brokers (Kafka), and caching layers.
• Optimize for throughput, latency, fault tolerance, and resilience under load.
• Implement unit, integration, and performance tests.
• Drive observability with monitoring and logging enhancements.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to ship reliable features on tight timelines.
• Mentor junior engineers through reviews and architecture discussions.
