Job summary

Coherent Solutions is seeking a senior Python backend engineer for a fully remote role on a social sports gaming platform. You will own backend services from design through deployment, building scalable distributed systems to support millions of users with low latency and high availability.

Key responsibilities include API and data-pipeline ownership, Kafka messaging, Dockerized deployments, and collaboration with product, frontend, and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• 4 years of Python backend development.
• Solid experience with Django/FastAPI and asyncio.
• Production experience with Apache Kafka.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, or similar architecture.
• Experience deploying and managing containerized applications using Docker.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud providers.
• Proficiency with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
• Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with code reviews.
• Comfortable working in Agile teams.
• English level: B2 or higher.

Project Description

• Drive continuous improvement of development processes and system observability, including monitoring and logging;
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to ship reliable features on aggressive timelines;
• Lead and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and knowledge sharing;

Job Requirements

• 4 years of experience in Python backend development;
• Solid experience with Django/FastApi and asynchronous programming using asyncio;
• Production experience with Apache Kafka;
• Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, or similar architecture;
• Experience deploying and managing containerized applications using Docker;
• Familiarity with any cloud provider, preferably AWS;
• Proficiency with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL;
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation;
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent;
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with code reviews;
• Comfortable working in Agile teams;
• English level: B2 or higher;
