Job summary

Smart Working Solutions in the United States is seeking a Senior Python Engineer (Backend / Data) to strengthen backend development and data pipelines on AWS, using Django and FastAPI.

You will work with a DevOps/SRE engineer on infrastructure, deployments, and production support, owning tasks end-to-end and ensuring data quality.

This is a long-term, fully remote role with global teams; you will contribute to reliable production systems and adapt to evolving priorities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering with 5+ years of Python development.
• 5+ years Python backend development experience.
• 3+ years in data pipelines / data engineering (ETL/ELT).
• 3+ years of AWS experience with cloud-based services.
• 3+ years of Python web frameworks (Django or FastAPI).
• 3+ years of PostgreSQL experience (data modelling, querying).

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain reliable data pipelines in Python on AWS.
• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Django and FastAPI.
• Model, query and optimise data across PostgreSQL and search/NoSQL databases.
• Deploy and run services on Kubernetes with DevOps support.
• Take end-to-end ownership of tasks from design to production.
• Collaborate with the engineering and DevOps teams on infrastructure and releases.
• Maintain high data quality and testing standards.
• Follow engineering practices including code reviews and CI/CD.
• Proactively identify problems and propose solutions.
