Job summary

Coherent Solutions, Inc. is seeking a backend engineer to own and evolve scalable backend services for a remote US-based team.

You will design, develop, and maintain distributed Python backends using Django or FastAPI, with Kafka messaging, Docker containers, and cloud deployments. You will drive performance and reliability at scale, implement comprehensive tests, and collaborate across product, frontend, and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• 4 years of Python backend development experience.
• Solid experience with Django/FastAPI and asyncio.
• Production experience with Apache Kafka.
• Strong background in distributed systems or microservices.
• Experience deploying containerized applications with Docker.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud providers.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Strong problem-solving and code-review skills.
• Comfortable working in Agile teams.
• English level: B2 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of backend services from design through deployment and maintenance.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed backend services using Python and Django.
• Architect distributed systems to support millions of users with low latency and high availability.
• Own APIs, data pipelines, Kafka messaging, and caching components.
• Optimize systems for throughput, latency, fault tolerance, and resilience.
• Implement robust testing strategies including unit, integration, and performance tests.
• Improve development processes and system observability via monitoring and logging.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to ship features on aggressive timelines.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and architectural discussions.
