Job summary

Webbyfox is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to design, build, and scale backend services powering its products. You will own end-to-end architecture, API design, deployment, and monitoring while collaborating with product, data, and DevOps teams.

You will lead design discussions, mentor engineers, and optimize performance, security, and observability across the stack, with a remote-friendly, telecommuting setup and exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong Python expertise.
• Solid experience with Django, FastAPI, or Flask.
• Strong RESTful API design; GraphQL experience is a plus.
• Relational DBs (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and ORMs; NoSQL (Redis/MongoDB) a plus.
• Async programming (asyncio) and task queues (Celery/RS).
• Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Strong testing discipline (pytest) and CI/CD experience.
• Good software design patterns, system design, and security practices.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Python.
• Lead architectural discussions and make design decisions.
• Write clean, tested code and promote engineering best practices.
• Review code and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and security of applications.
• Collaborate with product, data, and DevOps teams to translate requirements.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production support.
• Stay current with Python ecosystem and evolve the tech stack.
