Job summary

Fox Corporation is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer to lead reliable, scalable services for audio/video hosting, monetization, and analytics at global scale. You will work mainly in Python on APIs, asynchronous tasks, infrastructure-as-code, and data pipelines with Celery, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, and cloud primitives on AWS and GCP, partnering with product and infrastructure teams.

You will own RESTful APIs, async workers, and monitoring, drive phased migrations, and shape testing

Qualifications

Over 10 years in backend or backend-heavy engineering with ownership of large services.
Strong Python and service-oriented design: APIs, background jobs, idempotency, failure modes.
Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS and GCP; Terraform changes lead experience.

Responsibilities

Design and own RESTful APIs and async workers for media-related workflows.
Ensure reliability and performance of distributed systems and queues.
Drive data decisions across PostgreSQL, Redis, and storage; cost-aware querying.
Lead Terraform and AWS changes; improve observability and monitoring.
Raise cross-team alignment, review designs, and communicate trade-offs clearly.
Define testing strategies and CI-ready checks for risky migrations.
