Job summary

Cotality is hiring a Principal Software Development Engineer to design, test, and scale complex software systems. You will lead the Semantic Layer redesign, drive knowledge representation and semantic search, and build high-performance AI services that bridge core data with Agentic AI.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related field with 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert Python/FastAPI developer with production experience in asynchronous environments.
• Semantic & Graph expertise with knowledge representation and ontology evolution.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the Semantic Layer web service for high availability and scalability.
• Lead the delivery team as the primary technical architect for knowledge representation and semantic search.
• Design and deploy Hybrid Graph/Vector search architectures (GraphRAG) for global reasoning.
• Develop high-performance AI services using Python, FastAPI, Git, and Unix CLI to bridge enterprise data with AI.
• Collaborate with Data Science to leverage LLMs/SLMs for routing, classification, and synthesis.
• Automate ontology management, entity linking, and metadata ingestion pipelines.
• Replace manual checks with automated testing using metrics like Faithfulness and Context Precision.
• Perform expert code reviews and enforce AI engineering standards across the stack.
• Drive TDD and robust unit/integration tests for non-deterministic semantic pipelines.
• Tackle issues with model hallucinations, context windows, and latency in retrieval systems.
• Stay updated on AI trends and mentor engineers across Python, Semantic AI, and Cloud.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and lead engineering PODs.
