Job summary

Cotality, based in the United States, seeks a Principal Software Development Engineer to lead design, development, and testing of complex software systems. This senior role provides technical leadership, mentorship, and drives engineering excellence across teams.

You will architect scalable Semantic Layer services, collaborate with Data Science and Knowledge Engineering, and advance AI pipelines from GraphRAG to LLM/SLM integration while upholding rigorous testing and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience designing, scaling asynchronous Python web services.
• Deep understanding of Knowledge Representation, Ontologies, and Graph Reasoning.
• Experience with Vector Databases, Hybrid Search, and retrieval strategies (Query Expansion, HyDE, Reranking).
• Proficiency with ADK or similar model abstraction tools.
• Familiarity with AI evaluation frameworks (RAGAS).
• Cloud deployment experience (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the Semantic Layer Web Service, transitioning to an automated enterprise intelligence platform.
• Lead the delivery team as technical anchor for Knowledge Representation and Semantic Search at scale.
• Design and deploy GraphRAG hybrid Graph/Vector search architectures.
• Develop high-performance backend services with Python, FastAPI, and AI SDKs.
• Collaborate with Data Science to architect routing with LLMs and SLMs.
• Automate metadata ingestion for Ontology Management and Entity Linking.
• Establish automated testing with Faithfulness, Answer Relevance, and Context Precision metrics.
• Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to AI standards.
• Drive TDD and robust testing for non-deterministic semantic pipelines.
• Address model hallucinations and retrieval latency while staying current with AI trends.
