Job summary

Douglas County seeks a Lead Dispatcher for the Douglas County Communications Center in Superior, Wisconsin. This role provides operational leadership, coordinates emergency dispatch of law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other services, and supports the shift with guidance and training to staff.

The position requires a minimum of three years in public safety dispatch, strong decision-making, and proficiency with CAD, NG9-1-1, GIS mapping, and related systems.

Qualifications

• Three years minimum experience in public safety dispatch.
• Ability to lead, coach, and mentor staff during shifts.
• Proficient with CAD, NG911 and GIS mapping systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day dispatch operations for emergency and non-emergency requests.
• Coordinate law enforcement, fire, EMS responses and multi-agency incidents.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and training for communications personnel.
• Monitor performance, ensure policy compliance, and manage staffing needs.
• Maintain proficiency with public safety telecommunications technologies.
