Job summary

BDO USA, LLP in Port Reading, NJ is seeking a Senior Consultant, Public Housing Authority to perform and oversee the full cycle general accounting function and light consulting for affordable housing clients.

You will lead housing subsidy applications, perform reconciliations, review workpapers, interact with clients, and contribute to engagement planning and budgeting while advancing your CPA licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; focus in accounting preferred.
• Three or more years of accounting experience required.
• One or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Actively pursuing CPA licensing required.
• CPA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee full-cycle general accounting and light consulting for affordable housing clients.
• Lead preparation and submission of housing subsidy applications and federal funding.
• Provide basic and advanced accounting services including reconciliations and HUD reporting.
• Review workpapers to meet client requirements and quality standards.
• Identify anomalies in client data and communicate issues to the supervisor.
• Assist in managing engagement budgets and on-boarding phases.
• Interact with clients to gather information and data necessary to complete tasks.
• Support drafting proposals and documents explaining proposed solutions.
