Job summary

BDO USA is seeking a Senior Consultant in Public Housing Authority to oversee full cycle accounting and light consulting for affordable housing clients in the Maryland area. You will review work products, research regulations, and lead subsidy applications and HUD reporting.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years in accounting, with public accounting experience and supervisory exposure highly preferred. Active CPA pursuit is required; CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; focus in accounting preferred.
• Three or more years of accounting experience required.
• Actively pursuing CPA licensing; CPA preferred.
• Experience in public accounting preferred.
• One or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HUD financial reporting and grant regulations a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform full cycle general accounting and light consulting for public housing authority clients.
• Review workpapers and deliverables to meet client requirements and quality standards.
• Research program regulations and present findings to clients.
• Lead preparation and submission of housing subsidy applications and federal funding.
• Provide basic and advanced accounting services including reconciliations and HUD reporting.
• Draft financial information and reports for client review and management.
• Assist in managing budgets on engagements to ensure timely delivery and cost controls.
• Plan engagements, onboarding, and delivery phases, and understand engagement economics.
• Interact with clients to obtain information and data for tasks.
• Identify anomalies in client data and communicate issues to supervision.
