Job summary

Granite Construction Incorporated is seeking a seasoned project leader for overseeing multi-million dollar heavy civil construction projects. The role focuses on directing overall project scope, schedule, and financial outcomes from $15–$49 million, with emphasis on profitability, safety, and client relationships across the project lifecycle.

The position requires 5–10 years of progressive experience in heavy civil environments, including paving, dirt, and grading, and a BS in a related field.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience in heavy civil construction.
• Five to ten years progressive project experience in heavy civil environments.
• Minimum of five years experience in paving, dirt, and grading in either private or public environments.

Responsibilities

• Forecast project revenue and costs to meet profitability goals.
• Coordinate with estimators and project controls to establish budget.
• Lead estimating efforts on vertically integrated projects for bid-to-build accuracy.
• Manage resources with estimators, sponsor, and construction manager to meet schedule.
• Participate in bid review and bid closing; develop bid schedule with estimating team.
• Develop comprehensive start-up plan with sponsor, manager of construction and project team.
• Facilitate communication among project engineers, foremen, superintendents and construction manager for efficient, profitable, safe work.
• Ensure proper job controls: quantities, costs, revenue and schedule.
• Build relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, and clients to foster long-term partnerships.
• Produce accurate construction reports for continuous performance improvement.
• Run projects at or above desired margins.
• Support safety initiatives to maintain a safe work environment.
