Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an experienced Project Manager Staff (Grade 10) to lead complex projects and outages in a matrix environment. You will plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise activities, ensuring safety and cost efficiency while delivering value to customers and stakeholders.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 7–10 years of experience, PMP certification preferred, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with seven to ten years of qualified experience depending on degree.
• Associate’s degree with nine to twelve years of experience as an alternative.
• High School Diploma/GED with eleven to fourteen years of qualified experience as an alternative.
• PMP certification preferred or waived with SVP/OPCO President approval.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise project and outage work activities.
• Apply Waterfall and Agile project management principles.
• Ensure safety policies and zero-harm commitments are followed.
• Develop and manage procurement plans and vendor contracts.
• Provide strategic thinking, risk assessment and leadership across project teams.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science

Associate’s degree in the same required disciplines

High School Diploma/GED with extensive experience in project management
