Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Project Manager to oversee base to complex projects within a matrix team environment. You will lead planning, execution, and closure activities, ensuring safety and value delivery across internal and external stakeholders.

The role supports development to Senior/Principal levels with starting bases in the mid-to-high six figures, depending on experience and unit requirements, including outage management and financial controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with Years of qualified experience as described (3–9 years depending on degree level).
• Experience in outage management activities, project controls, estimating, and startup in a competitive production environment.
• Knowledge of construction safety, scope development and control, cost estimating, contracting, and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate assigned project activities.
• Coordinate and administer tasks as delegated by the lead project manager.
• Act on behalf of the lead project manager when unavailable.
• Develop and apply project management techniques (Waterfall, Agile).
• Ensure safety and zero-harm through adherence to the AEP System Safety Process.
• Develop, review, and coordinate project plans, schedules, budgets, tools, and staff.
• Lead planning meetings and stakeholder presentations; provide written and oral status reports.
