Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Project Management Group Leader to supervise project managers across Strategic Deterrence programs. The role focuses on personnel management, hiring, onboarding, and workload coordination within a hybrid work setup.

Responsibilities include developing staff, guiding performance reviews, and aligning staffing with priorities while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture. DOE Q clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
• Experience leading professional staff in a structured organization.
• Experience in administrative leadership including performance management and hiring.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative supervision, direction, mentoring, coaching, and support to Project Management group personnel.
• Manage personnel matters including performance reviews, time approval, salary planning, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, recognition, and career development.
• Contribute to division performance and salary management processes.
• Monitor staff development, including required training and professional growth.
• Participate in hiring activities to support workforce needs.
• Coordinate staff assignments and balance workloads across the group.
• Identify workforce capability gaps and address them through hiring or development.
• Foster a healthy, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
