Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Nuclear Facility Electrical Project Engineer to design, upgrade, and modify lab electrical systems for critical facilities. You will participate in R&D projects, apply DOE requirements, and develop cost-effective solutions within the DTED division.

The role may offer a hybrid schedule with some in-person work and days remote. Candidates should bring electrical design experience, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to coordinate

Qualifications

• DOE Q clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience designing facility electrical systems including distribution, emergency power, and controls.
• Experience developing project scope, evaluating design options, and preparing specs and drawings.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IEEE, NFPA 70, building codes).
• Strong verbal and written communication to collaborate with team and stakeholders.
• Ability to plan and complete activities within scope, schedule, and budget.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement electrical designs for facility construction, upgrades, and modifications.
• Support development of project scope, design options, cost estimates, schedules, and work packages.
• Provide electrical solutions that are safe and DOE-compliant for R&D projects.
• Develop requirements for equipment and support systems in hazard category 2 facilities.
• Prepare technical requirements, specifications, calculations, and documentation.
• Coordinate design activities with drafters, designers, contractors, and project team members.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input on design criteria and impacts.
• Support construction with submittal reviews and field problem resolution.
• Prepare detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, estimates, and work packages.
