Job summary

KFI Engineers is seeking a Project Executive to lead Commercial & Healthcare infrastructure projects in the Midwest. The role focuses on owner advocacy, project development, and delivery across higher education, healthcare, and life sciences sectors.

The ideal candidate has 10–15+ years in engineering and project management, strong communication, and a track record in business development. Expect travel up to 25% and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10–15+ years in design-bid-build, construction or engineer consulting.
• Strong engineering principles and standards understanding.
• Proven project management in commercial/institutional settings.
• Construction experience or time on a construction site.
• Experience leading infrastructure projects in higher education, K-12, municipal, hospital, life sciences or pharma.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for mentoring engineers and PMs.
• Strong business acumen with ability to engage senior stakeholders.
• Experience with business development: meetings, scoping, proposals, contracts.
• Active industry involvement and conferences for business development.
• Excellent oral and written communication; persuasive presentations.
• Ability to present complex information to executives and clients.
• Technology leadership and synthesizing ideas into action.
• Strong planning, analytical, organizational, problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Travel up to 25% domestically.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Executive on large projects, guiding PMs and engaging with clients.
• Lead business development: proposals, client meetings, scoping and contracts.
• Provide technical and engineering leadership for project development and delivery.
• Ensure high customer satisfaction by aligning expectations and outcomes.
• Manage projects with KPI tracking and QA/QC contributions.
• Mentor staff and promote collaboration within the team.
• Support project scope, feasibility, and funding discussions.
• Develop estimates and stay within scope; coordinate with subconsultants.
• Represent the firm at conferences and professional organizations.
• Lead client meetings, identify needs and new opportunities.
• Develop backlog of opportunities through marketing and business development.
