Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Windsor Locks, CT, is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to lead cross-functional teams in a demanding engineering environment. You will drive integrated scheduling, budgeting, and technical planning to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of complex programs.

The role requires strong leadership, STEM expertise, and experience with software/hardware development and multi-project execution.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) is typically required.
• Advanced degree in a related field or MBA is a plus.
• 8 years of relevant project experience, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
• Experience leading projects and teams within a matrixed organization.
• Experience with software design processes and hardware controllers.
• Strong organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive project engineering processes using scheduling, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management.
• Collaborate with engineering disciplines, program office, production and quality to develop integrated execution plans.
• Prepare and maintain project plans, budgets, and staffing to meet quality expectations.
• Maintain analysis of trends, performance, resource costs, and forecasting reports.
• Monitor progress in cost, schedule, and technical specs to meet objectives and budgets.
• Meet with the project team weekly to manage performance, issues, and tasks.
• Forecast revenues, monitor costs, and re-estimate costs monthly to maximize profitability.
• Present plans and progress reports; balance multiple projects including software, hardware, and sustainment.
• Communicate directly with customers as required and work to resolve issues.
