Job summary

The Recruiting Hive in Los Angeles, California, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major transportation and mass transit infrastructure project. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and project leadership team, overseeing project controls, cost tracking, contract administration, quality control, documentation, and closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of construction industry experience.
• Experience working on large, complex construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, plans, specifications, and project documentation.
• Experience with project cost tracking, change management, and financial reporting.
• Ability to analyze labor costs, quantities, production, and project performance.
• Strong understanding of project controls and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in the execution of large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, and project requirements.
• Track, prepare, review, and process: Change Proposal Requests; Change Orders; Potential Change Orders; Owner Payment Applications; Claims & Supporting Documentation.
• Assist with identifying changes in project scope and developing supporting documentation for additional compensation and/or schedule impacts.
• Monitor project costs and maintain accurate cost and production reports.
• Assist project leadership with cost forecasting and financial reporting.
• Analyze labor costs, quantities, production, and project performance.
• Prepare and maintain quantity tracking and production reports.
• Coordinate with field operations to verify installed quantities and completed work.
• Assist with procurement, subcontractor coordination, material tracking, and project documentation.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions, and other technical documentation as required.
• Research technical and quality control issues and coordinate appropriate solutions with project leadership.
• Verify completed construction complies with applicable plans, specifications, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, owners, and other project stakeholders.
• Support project scheduling, progress tracking, and short-term planning.
• Maintain organized project records and ensure documentation is current and accurate.
• Manage and coordinate project closeout requirements.
• Track punch-list items, as-built documentation, warranties, testing records, and final turnover documentation.
• Provide technical and administrative support to project leadership as required.
