Job summary

Modern Construction Services is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to support commercial construction projects.

You will coordinate documentation, submittals, RFIs, and change orders, working closely with Project Managers, superintendents, estimators, and accounting to keep projects on schedule and within budget. The role requires on-site presence during onboarding with hybrid flexibility after demonstrated performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale commercial projects.
• Proficiency with Procore.
• Experience managing submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
• Build and maintain the contract item list — all items requiring submittal for architect or engineer approval.
• Manage submittal logs, RFI logs, and change order logs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Issue subcontractor contracts using established templates at project kickoff.
• Support scheduling updates and coordination between field and office teams.
• Maintain accurate project records and workflows in Procore.
• Prepare and distribute monthly project financial reports for management review.
• Work closely with Project Managers, General Superintendents, Estimators, and Accounting.
• Serve as a key point of contact for architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors on document and submittal status.
• Support cross-functional communication to keep projects aligned and moving.
