Job summary

Modern Construction Services, a growing commercial construction and facilities maintenance firm, is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to support successful delivery of diverse projects in the Charlotte area.

You will coordinate documentation, manage submittals and RFIs, and assist contract administration with a focus on accuracy and commercial clarity. You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Accounting to maintain project data in Procore and drive timely decision-making.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale commercial projects.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Procore and construction management tools.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
• Build and maintain the contract item list — all items requiring submittal for architect or engineer approval.
• Manage submittal logs, RFI logs, and change order logs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Issue subcontractor contracts using established templates at project kickoff.
• Support scheduling updates and coordination between field and office teams.
• Maintain accurate project records and workflows in Procore.
• Prepare and distribute monthly project financial reports for management review.
• Work closely with Project Managers, General Superintendents, Estimators, and Accounting.
• Serve as a key point of contact for architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors on document and submittal status.
• Support cross-functional communication to keep projects aligned and moving.
