Job summary

Atkinson Construction seeks a Senior Project Engineer to plan, schedule, predict, and manage technical tasks for the lifecycle of heavy civil projects. The role emphasizes safety, collaboration with craft personnel, inspectors, and vendors, and strong budget/quantity tracking.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in commercial or heavy civil construction, an engineering-related undergraduate degree, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset focused on accuracy and timely deliverables.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience on commercial or heavy civil construction projects.
• Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
• High degree of initiative, independence, personal responsibility, and integrity.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Actively pursue and engage in safety training to learn and embrace the Atkinson safety culture.
• Participate in the TRACK process; attend daily / weekly meetings and field inspections.
• Build and maintain relationships with craft personnel, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and project team.
• Prioritize daily tasks with deadlines and material procurement lead times.
• Provide timely information, notices and requests to agencies, subcontractors, vendors, etc.
• Lead effective communication; ensure clear and unbiased information flow.
• Investigate issues, gather input, and propose solutions.
• Manage budgets and track quantities for forecasting and reporting.
• Oversee change orders and requisitions with thorough documentation.
