Job summary

Atkinson Construction is seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations on heavy civil projects in the United States. You will ensure self-performed and subcontracted work meets contract documents and schedule while enforcing safety and quality control policies.

The role requires guiding the project team, coordinating with subcontractors, and maintaining the project schedule with monthly updates. Strong leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with a large-scale heavy civil contractor or equivalent industry experience preferred.
• Deep knowledge of the construction process, including scheduling, contract administration, equipment and manpower.

Responsibilities

• Champion our safety culture by conducting regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
• Supervise timely and cost-effective installation of contracted work on the project or a scope.
• Provide on-the-job training for Assistant Superintendents and Project/Office Engineers.
• Encourage and participate in staff training and development.
• Develop a plan for a sequence of work and organize project tasks per contract documents.
• Know the scheduled delivery dates for all critical path material and equipment.
• Update project schedule monthly in line with contract documents.
• Control field costs for Atkinson and subcontract work.
• Supervise field workforce to ensure efficient construction.
• Schedule and monitor field productivity.
• Implement safety and QC policies and programs.
