Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services seeks a Senior Project Engineer/Manager to lead national water strategy initiatives for data center clients. You will guide due diligence, water sourcing, and discharge strategies while mentoring staff across regions and aligning with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 12+ years in environmental field with minimum 5 years as a project manager in a consulting environment.
• Professional certification or on track to obtain (PE, CHMM).
• Experience with water/wastewater treatment technologies and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

• Lead water due diligence for data center developments, including source water availability and regulatory constraints analyses.
• Develop and implement water sourcing strategies using municipal, groundwater, surface water, reclaimed water, and other sources.
• Evaluate wastewater discharge strategies including NPDES permitting and water reuse.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on water and wastewater infrastructure planning and interfaces.
• Provide regulatory guidance on water treatment, cooling water systems, and industrial wastewater management.
• Support cross‑functional teams and client stakeholders to navigate regulatory challenges across the US.
• Lead water strategy development from due diligence through permitting, construction, and operations.
• Oversee compliance programs for Safe Drinking Water Act for utilities and industrial clients.
• Lead response to NOVs, enforcement actions, and regulatory inspections.
