Job summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Engineer/Manager - Mission Critical Water and Wastewater to lead data center water strategy nationwide. You will manage due diligence, water sourcing, discharge strategies, and regulatory permitting while coordinating with offices across the U.S.

This role mentors staff, supports national accounts, and helps grow Langan's water and environmental compliance services, partnering with leadership to advance the Data Center practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 12+ years in environmental field with 5+ years as project manager in consulting.
• Professional certification or on track to obtain (e.g., PE, CHMM).
• Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment technologies and regulatory obligations.
• Willingness to engage in business development and cross-sell services.
• Ability to manage multiple clients, projects and staff across the US.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Lead water due diligence for data center developments, including water availability and regulatory analyses.
• Develop water sourcing strategies using municipal, groundwater, surface, and reclaimed water.
• Advance wastewater discharge strategies including NPDES permitting and water reuse.
• Coordinate with engineering teams on treatment, conveyance, and utility interfaces.
• Provide regulatory guidance on water treatment, cooling systems, and industrial wastewater.
• Collaborate with utilities, municipalities, and client stakeholders on permitting challenges.
• Lead water strategy development through project lifecycle from due diligence to operations.
• Oversee Safe Drinking Water Act compliance programs for utilities and industrial clients.
• Lead NOV response, corrective actions, and regulatory inspections.
• Support treatability studies, system upgrades, and optimization of treatment systems.
• Contribute to proposal development, scope, and budgeting; manage project delivery.
• Identify growth opportunities and support business development in water/environmental practices.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across Langan offices to deliver integrated solutions.
• Serve as technical advisor to clients, regulators, contractors, and stakeholders.
