Job summary

HDR is seeking a North America Project Controls Lead for its Building Engineering Services group. The role focuses on establishing and leading project controls practices, managing scope, budget, and schedule across diverse data center, hotel, finance and BES projects.

You will direct a team of project controls specialists, implement best practices, and mentor staff while ensuring high-quality performance and strong client relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Management, Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years serving as project controls manager for BES infrastructure projects each with contract values >$100M or program with >$300M.
• Ability to manage proposal preparation, contract review and negotiation, client relationships and win strategy for medium to large EPC projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience in Scheduling, Document Control, Cost Management, Cost Estimating, Claims/Forensic Analysis, PMIS Implementation/Dashboarding.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular coordination across BES with project controls personnel and leaders to drive improvements.
• Lead project controls approach and technologies across market sectors within BES.
• Align best practices with other Directors of Project Controls and Program Management.
• Identify staffing for projects during pursuit and execution phases.
• Monitor staff and project performance and maintain client relationships.
• Mentor staff and identify training opportunities for project controls personnel.
• Grow BES project controls bench strength and recruit strategic partners.
• Provide webinar/outreach to staff to elevate BES’s project controls acumen.
• Support Pursuit teams for Program/Construction Management.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• For project work: set up a framework to manage scope, budget, and schedule; manage teams; coordinate with PMIS; provide program-wide insights; establish templates and KPIs.
