Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced archaeologist to lead complex cultural resource investigations in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Phase I–III projects across utility, transportation, and energy sectors.

You will supervise field crews, ensure NHPA compliance, and collaborate with project managers to deliver quality archaeological assessments and reports. Travel within the region is required, with potential opportunities outside the area.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in anthropology/archaeology or related discipline is required.
• Team-oriented experience in consulting with at least 7 years in cultural resources roles.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in cultural resource management and archaeological compliance surveys, Northeast region.
• Demonstrated leadership in field crews and NHPA/regional regulations knowledge.
• Strong technical writing skills and ability to deliver written reports.

Responsibilities

• Act as task manager for complex cultural resource investigations across utilities, transportation, renewable energy, and government clients.
• Supervise field personnel, manage paperwork, field maps, notes, and equipment.
• Apply knowledge of archaeological assessments and NHPA requirements to Phase I–III investigations.
• Contribute to assessment reports and coordinate with project managers and field staff.
• Travel within the Mid-Atlantic region; some travel outside is possible.
