Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Archaeologist to support a growing cultural resources team across the Eastern Region, focusing on Section 106 and NHPA compliance. The role involves task management, field crew supervision, and technical reporting, with travel within the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond as needed.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s in archaeology, bring 7+ years in cultural resources, strong writing skills, and experience with GIS tools.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in anthropology/archaeology or related discipline.
• 7+ years in cultural resources positions with consulting experience.
• 7+ years in cultural resource management and archaeological compliance survey in Northeast.
• Experience leading and managing field crews.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Experience in renewable energy, electric transmission and distribution, utilities, transportation, and oil and gas distribution.
• Experience with GIS and digital data collection methods.

Responsibilities

• Act as task manager for complex cultural resource investigations for a variety of clients and sectors.
• Supervise activities of field personnel and manage daily paperwork, field maps, notes, photographs, vehicles, and field equipment.
• Apply working knowledge of goals and strategies in archaeological assessments and Phase I–III investigations.
• Contribute to archaeological assessment and Phase I–III reports.
• Liaise between cultural resources team and internal project managers for large projects and client portfolios.
• Coordinate with HSSE policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines in execution of all work.
• Provide supervision, training, and mentoring to developing staff.
• Travel within the Mid-Atlantic region is required; additional travel possible.
