Job summary

D&B Engineers and Architects PC is hiring a Senior Accountant in the New York area to join a collaborative team of professionals. You will handle financial reporting, month-end close, project accounting, AR, and reconciliations, while contributing to ERP system improvements.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, analytical skills, and experience in a project-based engineering or professional-services environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including project accounting.
• Experience with project ERP systems; BST Global preferred.
• Working knowledge of WIP accounting and paid-when-paid concepts.
• Proficient in Excel and strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and budget reviews.
• Post journal entries, accruals, payroll, and project-related GL adjustments.
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations and assist month-end close.
• Record and reconcile project accounting activity, including WIP and revenue recognition.
• Manage accounts receivable and collections with project managers and clients.
• Review contracts for correct payment provisions and paid-when-paid terms.
• Oversee accounts payable batches and employee expense accuracy.
• Support auditors and assist with annual regulatory reporting.
• Maintain and improve project accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Supervise accounting staff and provide cross-functional support.
