Job summary

Michaels Energy is seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead and grow a portfolio of utility energy efficiency programs in the Midwest. This role offers significant autonomy to shape strategy, own financial performance, and build strong utility client relationships.

You will lead cross-functional delivery teams, expand our regional portfolio, and translate opportunities into scalable, financially sound programs. A business mindset with strong financial acumen is essential.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience leading complex programs, portfolios, or business operations in utilities energy efficiency or related sectors.
• Demonstrated financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, and data-driven decisions.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering results through collaboration.
• Strong client/stakeholder relationships and communication with senior decision-makers.
• Analytical, organized, and problem-solving with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Own portfolio financial and operational performance, including revenue, profitability, budgets, forecasts, and commitments.
• Develop program strategies, budgets, and scopes of work aligned with client goals and resources.
• Identify risks and opportunities; improve portfolio economics and contract renewal potential.
• Lead client relationships and strategic conversations with utility clients about performance and opportunities.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams across engineering, outreach, marketing, and program operations to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement in program economics, operations, and client experience.
• Translate complex program data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
