Job summary

HDR is seeking a Principal Program Manager in California to lead multidisciplinary infrastructure programs with high technical complexity. You will advise clients on technical, regulatory, financial, and community aspects, directing execution across numerous disciplines to ensure program success.

This role requires a decade of program management experience, leadership of large programs, and familiarity with alternative delivery models. Regular travel and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Sciences, Planning, Business Administration or a closely related field.
• At least one of the listed licenses/certifications recognized by the licensing board for the location: PE/P.Eng, PMP, PgMP, AICP, or CCM.
• Ten years of program management experience, including at least four years as a Senior Program Manager, plus leadership on three or more programs of $500M+ value.
• Experience delivering concurrent programs with total value of $500M+ qualifies as one of the required programs.
• Familiarity with alternative delivery methods (DBIA, P3, DBFOM, EPC) and ability to work with diverse client teams.
• Willingness to travel regularly and commute to client sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary infrastructure programs with high technical complexity and non-technical intricacies.
• Advise clients on technical, regulatory, financial, and community aspects to ensure program success.
• Plan, direct, and monitor all program execution across multiple disciplines.
• Identify risks and provide strategic advice and issue resolution to address program challenges.
• Develop and implement program management plans and processes to drive efficiency and accountability.
• Direct services provided by large program teams or lead a mega-project.
• Maintain regular communications to ensure team alignment and client satisfaction.
• Secure resources to deliver contracted services while ensuring contract compliance.
• Monitor program performance and implement QA/QC to meet client expectations.
• Support growth of HDR's program management services and mentor staff.
