Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Senior Professional Services Engineer in Japan, focusing on complex installations, migrations, training, and advisory services for our customers. You’ll guide engagements from Omnibus installs to reference architectures built with IaC, collaborating with product and engineering teams to drive reliable, secure workflows.

You'll work with customers across cloud providers, mentoring other engineers and delivering outcomes in a remote, largely asynchronous environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with infrastructure as code or configuration as code tools.
• Strong English communication, written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and lead engineers in remote environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver GitLab Professional Services engagements across installation, migration, training, and advisory services.
• Plan deployments from single-node Omnibus to large reference architectures using Infrastructure as Code.
• Lead migrations to GitLab SaaS or self-managed deployments for reliable workflows.
• Partner with Engagement Managers and Project Managers to improve delivery consistency.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers.
• Interface with product and engineering teams to unblock customer outcomes.
• Work in a fully remote, asynchronous environment across time zones.
