Barnes & Thornburg LLP seeks a highly qualified Counsel attorney to lead complex product liability, mass tort, and toxic tort settlements. The role oversees negotiations, claims administration, funding governance, and contract drafting for large-scale settlements.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience handling settlements involving thousands of claimants, navigating data management, lien resolution, reporting obligations, and governance for settlement funds.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active and in good standing with the local state Bar; eligibility to waive in.
• Minimum of 8 years of significant experience focusing on mass torts in drug, medical device or consumer products.
• Experience negotiating and drafting settlement documents and managing claims.
• Detail-oriented with ability to oversee multiple teams and work streams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support settlement negotiations in complex product liability, mass tort, toxic tort, and consumer product matters.
• Develop settlement structures and eligibility criteria.
• Serve as primary legal and operations lead for settlements, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Draft, review, and finalize settlement documents; resolve disputes or appeals.
• Manage nurse paralegals and attorneys to review and categorize incoming claims.
• Perform data analysis across claims and monitor settlement values and trends.
