Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a highly qualified Counsel attorney to join the firm's product liability and mass torts resolution team, working with firm Partners to lead settlements from negotiation through final claim resolution and program closure.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience negotiating large-scale settlements with thousands of claimants, plus deep knowledge of contract drafting, claims administration, allocation methodologies, lien resolution, data management, and

Qualifications

Active state Bar in good standing or eligible to waive in.
8+ years of substantive mass tort experience, with focus on drug, medical device or consumer products.
Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating settlement documents.
Strong problem-solving, project management and stakeholder skills.
Ability to lead multiple teams and work streams in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

Lead and support settlement negotiations in complex product liability, mass tort, toxic tort, and consumer product matters.
Develop settlement structures and eligibility criteria.
Serve as primary legal and operations lead, ensuring settlements are executed efficiently and compliant.
Draft, review, and finalize all settlement-related documents; resolve disputes or appeals.
Manage nurse paralegals and attorneys to review/ categorize incoming claims.
Perform data analysis across claims to identify trends and monitor values.
Oversee all aspects of settlement implementation and claims administration.
