Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Optimization Engineer for our client in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will lead efforts to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability across chemical production processes, using data-driven methods.

The role emphasizes process simulation, Six Sigma, and APC, with mentoring of engineers and collaboration with operations, R&D, and engineering teams to implement improvements and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 6+ years in process engineering with optimization focus.
• Experience with process simulation software and modeling.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing chemical production processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and implement optimization strategies using Lean Six Sigma and APC.
• Model and optimize process parameters using simulation software.
• Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Design and execute experiments to test improvements and validate results.
• Maintain process documentation including P&IDs and mass/energy balances.
• Collaborate with plant operations, R&D, and engineering teams to implement changes.
• Monitor process performance with key metrics and report to management.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster continuous improvement.
