Job summary

Re:Build Manufacturing in Rochester, NY seeks a Senior Process & Mechanical Designer to lead the design of industrial process systems, including skid-based and modular equipment, from concept through detailed design. You will drive technical decisions and mentor others while maintaining hands-on design execution.

You will collaborate across mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls disciplines, lead design reviews, and ensure manufacturability and safety.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in industrial process and/or mechanical design in an engineering or industrial environment.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Drafting/Design, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD 2D/3D and SolidWorks.
• Experience developing mechanical and process designs including 3D modeling, drawings, simulation, and analysis.
• Ability to gather technical requirements, solve complex design challenges, and apply practical engineering principles.
• Experience developing engineering and project cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of industrial process systems, including skid-based and modular equipment, from concept through detailed design and release.
• Develop and review technical requirements, 3D models, GA drawings, equipment layouts, and piping designs.
• Solve complex design challenges through engineering analysis, simulation, validation, and sound engineering judgment.
• Lead internal and client-facing design reviews, presenting solutions and resolving technical challenges.
• Collaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls teams to deliver integrated system designs.
• Partner with fabrication and field service teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, safe, and aligned with project requirements.
• Support proposals, cost estimates, and execution planning to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
• Mentor designers and engineers while establishing design standards, tools and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance design quality, standardization and efficiency.
