Job summary

Nesco Resource, LLC is partnering with an engineering and manufacturing client in Rochester, NY to hire an experienced Process & Mechanical Designer. This role leads modular, skid-based systems from concept through detailing, release, and fabrication.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in industrial design, proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and SolidWorks, and a BS/AS in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Occasional travel up to 25% is required.

Nesco Resource is partnering with a engineering and manufacturing client in Rochester, NY We are hiring an experienced Process & Mechanical Designer to join our existing and growing engineering department. If you thrive on turning complex mechanical and process challenges into buildable, modular solutions, we want to talk to you.

In this role, you will take skid-based, modular, and containerized systems from initial concept through detailed modeling, release, and fabrication.

What You'll Do:

• Design industrial process systems, piping layouts, general arrangement drawings, and equipment layouts.
• Perform system simulation, component analysis, and technical validation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, structural, electrical, controls, and fabrication teams to ensure seamless build and deployment.
• Participate in client design reviews, estimating support, and continuous process improvement.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience: 5+ years of process/mechanical design in an industrial or engineering-services environment.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and SolidWorks.
• Education: AS/BS or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
• Key Strengths: Strong background with design analysis, skid-based/containerized systems, and clear cross-team communication.
• Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% (client sites/field service support).

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with pressure vessel/piping design, FEA/pipe stress analysis (SolidWorks FEA, ANSYS, Caesar II), or 3D point clouds.
• Familiarity with industrial automation, cost estimating, ISO 9001, Lean/Six Sigma, or OSHA process safety standards.
