Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a detail-oriented Process & Mechanical Drafter to support the design and development of industrial process systems. In this role, you'll work closely with Senior Designers and Engineers to transform 3D models and engineering concepts into accurate, fabrication-ready drawings for skid-based systems, containerized equipment, new facilities, and retrofits.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on mechanical or process piping drafting experience, strong CAD skills, and a solid understanding of manufacturing drawings and dimensioning standards. You'll thrive if you enjoy solving technical challenges, collaborating with engineering and fabrication teams, and continuously improving your skills while contributing to projects from design through production.

This is an on-site opportunity in Rochester and/or Rush, NY, with occasional travel to customer and supplier locations.

What You Get To Do

  • Support Senior Designers with 3D modeling, mechanical detailing, process piping, and equipment layouts.
  • Create and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change notices (ECNs), and technical drawing packages.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls engineering teams to ensure designs meet project requirements.
  • Partner with fabrication and field teams to resolve drawing questions, improve manufacturability, and document as-built conditions.
  • Contribute to project proposals, estimates, technical reviews, and design deliverables.
  • Improve drafting standards, design workflows, and tools to increase efficiency, consistency, and quality.
  • Apply safety considerations throughout the design process and support safe practices during fabrication and site activities.

What You Bring To The Team

  • 2–5 years of mechanical or process piping drafting experience, ideally supporting industrial equipment, skid-based, or containerized systems.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or AutoCAD 3D, along with 2D drafting tools.
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, views, sections, GD&T, dimensioning, and tolerance stacks.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design, Mechanical Design Technology, or equivalent technical certification or experience.
  • Experience interpreting technical requirements and producing accurate, fabrication-ready documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams.
  • Ability to work independently, take direction from senior technical leaders, and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Ability to work on-site in Rochester and/or Rush, NY, and travel to customer or supplier locations as needed.

Preferred Skills
