Job summary

Clayco is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to collaborate with in-house Development, Architecture, and Construction teams on process engineering/design and QA for nationwide projects. You will lead design efforts, establish budgets and schedules, and develop PFDs and P&IDs while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires extensive experience in process engineering, strong communication skills, and familiarity with ASME/API codes.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering from ABET-accredited university/college.
• 8–10 years of process chemical engineering experience, preferably in a design firm.
• PE license preferred to seal engineering documents; ability to obtain licenses in multiple states.
• Experience on large capital projects for clients in various industries.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with AutoCAD.
• Experience in process safety, PHA/HazOPs preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design in accordance with applicable industry codes for all phases of process and utility engineering work.
• Scope out projects and establish a design basis, budget, and schedule.
• Create PFDs, generate material balances, create P&IDs.
• Generate equipment datasheets and mechanical equipment specifications.
• Interpret plant operating data with clients to improve process designs; communicate progress/ risk.
• Evaluate process safety and safety equipment to ensure personnel and asset safety.
• Use internal tools and software such as AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, or HTRI.
• Act as technical SME and QC reviewer for process design tasks.
• Apply ASME and API codes for vessel and piping design.
