Job summary

Clayco and LJC Design & Engineering seek a highly technical process engineering leader to drive design for complex industrial projects, including pet food and meat processing, delivering safe, efficient, and innovative process solutions that align with client goals.

You will develop scopes, create PFDs and P&IDs, specify equipment, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure safe, compliant execution from design through startup.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical or Mechanical Eng from ABET-accredited school
• 8–15+ years process engineering in industrial manufacturing
• Professional Engineer (PE) exam completed
• Strong understanding of process engineering principles and safety
• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, and equipment specs
• Lean manufacturing or lean processes experience
• Field construction support, commissioning, and startup experience preferred
• Strong engineering judgment and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering design for pet food, meat processing, and industrial manufacturing projects
• Develop project scopes and process design basis documentation
• Create and review PFDs, material balances, and P&IDs
• Specify process equipment and instrumentation design activities
• Collaborate with discipline leads to ensure successful implementation
• Interpret operating data and develop process solutions
• Ensure safety and alignment with client requirements
• Mentor junior staff and develop engineering best practices
• Support construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting
