Job summary

Clayco / LJC Design & Engineering seeks a technical Process Engineering Leader to drive design for complex industrial projects. You will develop process design basis, PFDs, and P&IDs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient solutions aligned with client goals.

Require 8–15+ years in process engineering, PE license, and proven leadership in a fast-paced design-build setting; on-site roles in Greenville, SC with nationwide client engagements.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical or Mechanical Eng from ABET-accredited program.
• 8–15+ years of process engineering experience in industrial manufacturing.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong understanding of process engineering principles and safety.
• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, and equipment specs.
• Lean manufacturing experience.
• Experience with field construction support, commissioning, startup preferred.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset for fast-paced design-build environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead process design for pet food, meat processing, and industrial manufacturing projects.
• Develop project scopes and establish process design basis documentation.
• Create and review PFDs, material balances, and P&IDs.
• Specify process mechanical equipment and instrumentation design activities.
• Collaborate with discipline leads across all project phases.
• Interpret plant data and develop process solutions with engineering judgment.
• Ensure designs are safe, efficient, and aligned with client requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and advance engineering best practices.
• Support construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
