Job summary

Saft in Maryland is seeking a Process Engineer to develop and implement process strategies, manage resources, and optimize production efficiency to reduce costs. You will collaborate with production managers to design upgrades, run risk assessments, and ensure safety and quality standards while maintaining documentation and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Material Engineering.
• Six Sigma methodologies and root cause analysis.
• Clear and effective communication.
• Strong organizational skills.
• CAD experience with equipment troubleshooting and floor support.
• Lean Manufacturing experience from the mechanical side.
• Experience with slurry mixing, rheology, and characterization is a plus.
• Continuous process improvement (yield/revenue).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment functions.
• Machine controls comprehension.
• PPE safety.
• Reading mechanical & electrical drawings.
• Background in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
• Technical writing (work instructions).
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of configuration management.
• US citizenship or green card holder.

Responsibilities

• Meet with production managers to assess existing processes.
• Draft process ideas to reduce costs and improve production rates.
• Perform risk assessments and optimization tests.
• Design and test process upgrades and new process systems.
• Ensure processes comply with safety and quality standards.
• Perform process simulations and troubleshoot issues.
• Develop routine and best practices to ensure product quality.
• Develop standardized operating instructions for upgrades.
• Provide product manager with process documents and SOPs.
